Created in 2014, our Memorial Pathway provides a beautiful and peaceful journey within our grounds where loved ones can reflect fondly on those they have lost. Dotted with benches, planters, and statuaries, the natural walkway setting features cremation plots along the sides of the pathway that are marked with granite memorial boulders. Each plot may accommodate up to two cremated remains, making it a perfect option for those who have shared a wonderful life together and would like to remain next to each other for eternity. Rosehill's Memorial Pathway has quickly become one of the most cherished areas within our grounds.
Rosehill Cemetery may inter cremated remains in an urn within either a traditional plot or the plot of an existing family member. Burying cremated remains in a traditional plot allows family members the added flexibility of memorializing their loved one with either a flat grave marker, a pillow-style marker, or a traditional upright monument. Purchasing a traditional plot allows for the internment of up to two cremated remains within that space, and the ability to choose the placement of the monument. For those who would wish to inter cremated remains within the plot of an existing family member, Rosehill can allow for two cremated remains to be placed within a traditional plot that has previously had a casket burial. If consent has not been previously granted by the owner of the existing traditional plot, permission must be granted. Please contact us for the required forms and further details.
At Rosehill Cemetery, we are committed to meeting the evolving needs of our Albertan families. That's why we're excited to announce the upcoming addition of indoor glass front columbarium niches to our array of memorialization options.
What exactly are indoor glass front niches? These niches or indoor columbariums provide a beautiful and intimate setting to house cremated remains within our cemetery grounds in Edmonton. Crafted with precision using bronze and featuring a transparent glass front, these niches offer families the opportunity to honour their loved ones in a serene indoor environment while still being able to see the urn containing their ashes.
We understand that the decision between cremation and burial is deeply personal and increasingly common. In response to this growing preference for cremation, we are proud to introduce this innovative indoor option to complement our existing outdoor offerings.
With the addition of indoor glass front niches, we aim to enhance the memorial experience for our families by providing a new level of choice and versatility. Whether you prefer the tranquility of an indoor setting or the serenity of our outdoor grounds, Rosehill Cemetery is dedicated to helping you find the perfect resting place for your loved one.
Rosehill Cemetery has two different areas within our grounds which have been developed with columbariums. Our latest one is located near the administration office and contains five new columbariums for a total of 264 niches. Completely landscaped and featuring soothing music 24 hours a day, the area offers a peaceful setting for family members visiting those they've lost. Niches can accommodate either one or two urns, and the names and dates of the deceased, as well as designs, are engraved on the granite doors.
Rosehill Cemetery also offers private columbariums, for those who would like standalone monuments to honour their loved ones. We will work with the family to determine the placement of these private columbariums within our grounds, which have become increasingly popular over the past few years. Private columbariums provide the family with further design options for how they would like the memorial for their loved one to look and a more private setting during visitation.
